There's the long-term problem and the short-term problem. Long-term, yes, there is the issue of an entire generation retiring — a generation that decided to stick around when the economy took a dive. "We dodged a bullet there," Mikes says.

And here in Canada, a recent report by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce noted that the trucking industry is going to be short 37,000 drivers.

Truck Training

Truck Training

So what would you have liked to have seen more of in your training when you trained for you tractor trailer licence?

Saferway uses a wide variety of equipment for best student training. We are not a one size fits all school that only trains on one tractor and one tailor

We utilize trailers that vary from a 26' to 40' flat decks, 45' and 53' Vans and if the student is taking the longer Certified Course and acquire the skills to move forward they will get training on the Super B Train.

We find that the student need as much intense and verity of training as most don't know exactly what they will be operating after they get their licence.

This is also an advantage as we can match up equipment as best we can for companies that do want their employees to learn on a specific piece of equipment.
